Group Mat Pilates
Our Group Mat Pilates classes are a fantastic way to experience the Pilates method in a dynamic and supportive group environment. In these small classes, with a maximum of 10 participants, you’ll focus on strengthening the core, improving flexibility, and enhancing body awareness through a series of mat-based exercises. The intimate class size allows for individual attention and ensures that your form and technique are always prioritised.
Mat Pilates focuses on using your body weight and the floor to provide resistance, offering a full-body workout that helps improve posture, muscle tone, and balance. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced practitioner, our instructors will provide modifications and progressions to meet your fitness level.
Join us for a fun and challenging class where you’ll leave feeling stronger and more connected to your body!

Group Reformer Pilates
Our Group Reformer Pilates classes offer a highly personalized experience, with a maximum of just 4 participants per class. Using the iconic Pilates Reformer machine, these sessions focus on controlled movements that build strength, flexibility, and improve alignment. The small group size ensures you receive personalized attention while still benefiting from the motivation and energy of a group setting.
Reformer Pilates is excellent for improving posture, balance, and core strength. The machine’s springs provide resistance, allowing you to challenge your muscles in a safe and controlled way. Whether you’re new to Pilates or have experience, the Reformer offers endless variations to keep your workouts exciting and effective.
With more individual guidance than in larger classes, our Reformer sessions are perfect for those looking for a deeper connection to their body.

Private Pilates Sessions
Our private 1:1 sessions are tailored specifically to your body, needs, and goals. Each session focuses on slow, controlled movements to help you develop strength, alignment, and body awareness. In addition to the Reformer, we use a range of classical Pilates equipment—including the Cadillac, chairs, and barrels—to support and challenge your body in a way that’s perfectly suited to you.

Active Aging Group Classes
Our Active Aging Classes are specifically designed for individuals looking to stay strong, healthy, and mobile as they age. These classes focus on gentle, effective exercises that cater to those with osteoporosis or anyone looking to maintain bone health and mobility. We incorporate a combination of pre-Pilates movements and Classical Pilates exercises to promote strength, stability, and flexibility without compromising safety.
We prioritise spine safe movement and follow the Royal Osteoporosis Society guidance for Pilates exercises. While there is a possibility of spinal fracture with exercise that is “uncontrolled, repetitive or sudden forward movements, or if you are putting some load or strain on your spine in a curved position. This may put uneven pressure on the front parts of your spine, which could increase your risk of a spinal fracture” – the Royal Osteoporosis Society.
Pilates is a controlled exercise system with no sudden forward movements. The Royal Osteoporosis Society states that, “Pilates is very safe and won’t cause a spinal fracture. However, to be on the safe side, use alternative moves that keep your back straight or allow you to bend in a controlled and comfortable way. This will help to reduce the risk of injuring your back.”
Following professional guidelines, we include exercises like the “cat” stretch and C-shaped spinal movements, which are performed without added load to ensure your safety. Building mobility in these shapes is important, as reduced spinal movement can affect balance and posture, contributing to an increased risk of falls. Maintaining a flexible spine helps support better stability and overall movement confidence. However, if you choose to avoid spinal flexion completely, please let our instructors know so that we can provide you with modifications.
In this class, we focus on building core strength, enhancing posture, and supporting joint health, making this class ideal for anyone looking to improve balance and overall well-being.

Private Rehabilitation Classes
Pilates was originally designed for rehabilitation, and at Pilates Ave, we are committed to supporting your healing journey. Joseph Pilates’ first studio in New York was filled with clients recovering from injuries, most notably ballerinas who were told they would never dance again.
If you’re recovering from surgery or injury, our 1:1 Pilates classes are a perfect way to regain strength and mobility. Each session is carefully designed to help you rebuild muscles with basic movements and correct alignment, preventing overuse of certain muscle groups. We collaborate with physiotherapists and osteopaths, and if you already have a team, we’re happy to work with them to ensure your recovery stays on track.
Additionally, our dedicated group pre-Pilates class is a great starting point for your recovery, with simple exercises aimed at building a solid foundation and improving daily movements.
We work with clients recovering from a range of conditions, including:
- Scoliosis
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Spinal Fusions
- Herniated Discs
- Back Pain
When you’re ready to move, and have been cleared by your GP, we’re here to help you get back on track.
At Pilates on the Avenue, we are passionate about creating a welcoming space for people of all ages and fitness levels. Whether you’re looking to recover from an injury, stay active as you age, or experience the joy of movement in a fun class, we have something for you. Come join us and experience the power of Pilates!
